Mary Adkins
Mary graduated from Duke University and moved to Brooklyn to become a playwright. Instead, she became a bartender. Two years tending bar and a dozen administrative gigs later, she decided to give law school a go. After scoring in the 99th percentile on the LSAT, she ended up at Yale Law School, where she served as Madame President of the Court Jesters, Yale Law's sole drama troupe.
Before and during law school, Mary tutored and taught LSAT for several test prep companies. Upon receiving her J.D., she began working at a large Manhattan law firm, only to face her inability to conquer her writing addiction. When she is not teaching, she can probably be found scribbling a play, a story, or her book about trying to save the world and failing miserably. She is admitted to the New York Bar and fascinated by alternative dispute resolution methods. Engage her on the subject, and she may bore/creep you out.
[Mary's] encouraging emails and pep talks helped me keep perspective and ultimately allowed me to deal with anxieties on test day. I'm so grateful to have met a tutor and mentor who really cared to see that I do well. "--Private Tutoring Student, Summer 2011
Mary never used the instructional books - they were added (excellent) resources for me to reference on my own; during lessons, instead of reading me the text of the books, she used the computer curriculum that was an actual lesson and talked me through it in a way that I wouldn't have understood as clearly without her help. I was really pleased with my experience with her."--Private Tutoring Student , Fall 2011
